Small Audio Transformers
small audio transformers were originally used in valve or tube
amplifiers as interstage and output transformers. small audio
transformers that are distributed as individual parts are processed
in bulk packs, while components that have leads in four-sides use
trays. small audio transformers are used in car radios and
broadcast equipment, and in sound reinforcement applications.
small audio transformers: small audio transformers are involved in
the transmission of voice or sound signals.
There are two basic types of small audio
transformers with each having multiple functions:Step-up /
Step-down transformers. A second limitation is that
small audio transformers have a maximum input level that
cannot be exceeded without causing a distorted signal. A
third limitation is that small audio transformers cannot step
up a signal by more than about 25 dB when used in typical
audio circuits. Early transistor amplifiers similarly
used small audio transformers for coupling and output
stages. There is nothing particularly mystical about
small audio transformers although their use is not
particularly widespread today. Typically, small audio
transformers are encased in a magnetic shielding which is
filled with an epoxy resin that provides insulation, protects
the windings, and prevents vibration of the core
material. Some small audio transformers do not have a
center tap, while other devices have a center tap in only the
primary side, only the secondary side, or in both the primary
and secondary sides.
There are high quality small audio transformers in
the markes that meet those specs, but those can be quite
expensive. I built some of my audio line isolators usign
two high quality telephone line couplingtransformers which
have 600 ohm impedance (I built later some new ones usingsome
high quality small audio transformers). If you are
looking for very good sound quality, you might want to
investto some better quality (and much mor eexpensive) small
audio transformers. Manufactures general purpose small

connected products, miniature switch mode transformers for
lighting applications, magnetics for SMPS, hi-fi small audio
transformers and chokes, miniature high voltage transformers,
low audio noise magnetics, miniature incapsulated line power
transformers, miniature coils, inductors, chokes, and
ballasts. Manufactures small audio transformers, coils,
current transformers, filters, inductors, power transformers,
pulse transformers, RF & IF transformers, step up/step
down transformers, toroids, band pass filters, and surface
mount coils and transformers, for medical, telecommunications
devices, radar systems, computers, lasers, avionics,
audio/visual equipment, industrial controls, consumer products
and power supplies. Low level small audio transformers
are normally wound on mu-metal cores, although somespecalised
types are wound on ferrite.
High level small audio transformers are all wound
ongrain oriented silicon steel. High level small audio
transformers are all wound ongrain oriented silicon steel.
